The School of Economics and Business Administration (SEBA) at Chongqing University (CQU) was established in 1937. Its first dean was served by the president of CQU at that time, professor Ye Yuanlong, an economist with education experience in the United States in the early 1900s. The first full-time dean was professor Ma Yinchu, a distinguished economist and educator.
Currently, SEBA has 136 full-time faculty members, including 58 professors, 56 associate professors, and 71 Ph.D. supervisors. The school has nurtured and recruited 12 national-level talents and over 30 talents at the provincial and ministerial levels. We offer 2 doctoral programs in Business Administration and Applied Economics, 6 master degree programs, and 7 undergraduate programs.
SEBA has been triply accredited by three international accreditation bodies in business education, AMBA, AACSB, and EQUIS successively. The school possesses 6 departments with over 5,000 students on campus, including nearly 1,000 undergraduate students, 4,000 master students, and 300 doctoral students. In the 2023 Best Subjects Ranking of Chinese Universities by SHANGHAI RANKING, our business administration ranked 15th in the top 7%, and our applied economics ranked 64th in the top 30% in China.
•1937, Business School of CQU was established, and the President of CQU, professor Ye Yuanlong, served as the first dean.
•1938, Professor Ma Yinchu, a renowned economist and educator, was appointed as the first fulltime dean.
•1952, Business School of CQU was revoked due to the national college reorganization.
•1978, management engineering teaching and research office was established in CQU and management education was restored.
•1984, Department of Management Engineering was established.
•1989, Department of Management Engineering was upgraded to be the College of Business Administration (CBA).
•1991, 1993, 1994, CBA was successively approved by the Chinese MOE to launch master programs in management, Ph.D. programs and postdoctoral mobile station.
•1996, Economics of Power Technology was enlisted in the key construction projects of “211 project”.
•2002, the college was renamed as “School of Economics And Business Administration”, and the Technological Economics and Management approved to be the national key discipline.
•2003, SEBA was approved to lunch Ph.D. programs in Business Administration, and Management Science and Engineering.
•2004, the Technological Economics and Management was included in the second phase priority construction projects of “985 projects‘’.
•2007, SEBA was awarded the National-level Economic Management Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center.
•2010, SEBA was approved by the Chinese MOE to launch MIB and MF programs. The Technological Economics and Management was included in the third phase priority construction projects of “985 projects‘’.
•2011, SEBA was approved to launch Ph.D. program in Applied Economics.
